JHM Global Internship Policy
There are varied internship positions currently available.The Policy & Objectives
To see to it that you grow taller in servant-hood, meet and see Jesus moving in the lives of the suffering, care more for the broken and grow deeper in your walk with Christ. Then return back home a newly transformed soul, well awakened spiritually, emotionally, physically & mentally. You will never be the same again!
To assist in our effort and vision of capacity building by empowering young people & adults to gain experience and prepare themselves for serving in God's Kingdom.
Guiding Principles
Internship will be offered only in line with our programmes and activities;
We may terminate an internship should it be deemed unsafe for the intern to continue in the geographical location if we see, perceive or receive reports of threats, violence, unrest, danger, hostility or political turmoil.
A restricted number of interns would be allowed at certain locations [in each nation] for a specific period of time taking into account considerations of accommodation space, mentorship, supervision staff and equipment;
In a situation where there are many students seeking for internship a short list and interviews of candidates shall be conducted to make our final selection;
Interns will be assigned to relevant mission work, assignments or activity for supervision throughout the internship period. Therefore, each internship department at JHM Global:
shall request and insist on the full cooperation of interns and a compliance to all the safety rules on the ground.
shall make provision to accommodate its interns as best as possible during their stay. This may be with a family, in a hostel or hotel as deemed appropriate by our staff for the intended internship experience;
shall ensure that interns have work to do and are afforded quality supervision;
shall ensure that the interns are aware of their rights, obligations and responsibilities;
shall ensure that professional competencies of the intern are enhanced by allocating the intern to task that will enable him/her to grow and be challenged.
Administration of the Policy
We shall enter into a contract with an intern following a successful application;
Interns will pay all relevant fees in advance to JHM Global.
Interns will be responsible for making their own flight booking but may approach us for help.
The contract will be binding to both parties for the duration of the internship;
Interns are responsible to obtain their travel visas to the nation in question.
The application of the intern shall be backed up by a supporting letter from his/her institution, church or pastor/referee;
The contract period shall range between a minimum one week, of three (3) months and a maximum of twelve (12) months.
Interns must receive a proper orientation, which must include both the philosophy and work practices of JHM Global;
Interns cannot represent JHM Global at any public events without the prior consent of management; and
Interns will be expected to adhere to all JHM Global's regulations, polices and procedures without exception.
Responsibilities of JHM Global
We shall provide the intern with a conducive working environment as best as possible in a foreign land.
We shall provide the intern with working space; transport and support.
We shall endeavour to provide a safe working environment for her/his internship and mentoring; and
We shall provide a suitable & dedicated supervisor/mentor to the intern duration of the internship;
Responsibilities of Interns
The intern shall demonstrate willingness to fully and actively participate in the learning experience by planning their programme with the Mentor;
The intern shall participate in the introduction and orientation programmes;
The intern shall avail himself/herself for relevant skills development intervention planned by us; and
The Intern shall organise her/his own work-permit or travel visa as necessary.
Benefits
Intern shall NOT be paid any stipend for the duration of the internship; and
We will be responsible for taking out health/insurance against accidents to or injury of all interns who are deployed by us.
Acts of God/War
Intern shall NOT be refunded should there occur an act of war or serious political violence whilst already on the ground in the nation of internship.
Intern shall NOT be refunded should there occur an act of God, such as earthquakes, flood, tornado, dangerous storms, fire or similar events whilst already on the ground in the nation of internship.
Students willing to re-take the internship may do so for FREE another time but will have to pay own flights to the same nation.
